Pidgin 2.6.2 upgrade for EeePC devices: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?pid=645511

In short, download the .DEB from: http://www.mediafire.com/file/zdmm4djwn3o/pidgin-2.6.2-4.deb and use 'deb -i pidgin-2.6.2-4.deb' to install the thing, after removing the precursors if necessary.

We can only hope that this link will remain usable by the time I get to the machine in question.
